I served at LORSTA Lampedusa, IT during 1990-1991. It was one of my favorite duty stations while in the Coast Guard. These were very nice memories.

First to Narrow Cape after A School from 1980-1981, then to Seneca from 1981-1982. Had a great time at the Cape, used to chat with the guys at Tok, St. Paul and Attu on the Mod 40 ttys on those long winter nights-the prelude to our present chatrooms!

I served on Iwo Jima Feb. 1980 to March 1981. It was an experience I will never forget. Would love to hear from old Loran mates. I brought back 2 new dogs to the island, they were our rat trapping devices on the C130 manifest.

Attu Island (April 2009- August 2010)- Had the privilege of being the final EPO and closing the station. I honestly wish I had known about the unique opportunity to serve at LORAN stations earlier in my career. One of my most memorable tours. We had a great engineering crew and some good experiences together. I salute all previous LORAN duty members for the sacrifices made. Thank you for the efforts to establish this website!

MCPO Dietz and CPO Jester have provided a wonderful web site with and unbelievable amount of LORANSTA history and memories. Congratulations and thanks. Jan. – Mar. 2012 Retirees Newsletter advertised the web site. I have enjoyed reviewing the guest book comments and all of the historical information provided and will return to the site many times. I was an ET and stationed on CG Depot Guam, MI from 12-18-54 thru 7-18-55 with 2 TDYs to CGLORSTA Iwo Jima (2-11 to 2-14 and 4-18 to 5-21). Transferred to CG LORSTA Saipan 7-26-55 and returned to CCGD5 2-29-56. I remember ET1 Petri and EN1 ARL identified in the station roster and remember EN Pridemore, EN Snyder, ET3 Bowden, SN Powell and LT Mihlbauer CO also from Saipan. I would like to hear from old shipmates stationed with me during that time frame. Bill and Joe thanks again for a great web site. CDR Gary L Siegle USCG 1-16-2012

On Yap with a great crew in 68/69. was part of the "mysterious project" with the Navy and DD that i assume we can finally talk about. If any of you Coasties that served on Loran C stations have various kinds of cancer, heart disease or adult onset diabetes, (especially pre-1985) leave a note here or try and get hold of me. (best thing to do is goodle my name) Great Memories! Good job on a wonderful web site.
