I was stationed at USCG LTS Ocean Cape, Yakuatat, AK from August 1961 to September 1962 as a HM2-P1. Good times. Neat people. Lots of wildlife. Stayed an extra month to go moose hunting. Never saw a moose after opening day. No paved roads back then. Google maps show a lot of change. Would like to go back for a visit.

Who could ever forget that 820 acre of rock with 30 guys and a dog named Skipper. Marcus Island! If not for the reef snorkeling would have lost my mind. Wish would have saved and collected more glass balls they sell today for $1000 each.

I served on Yap during 67-68 and have quite a few pictures if interested. Unfortunately they are slides, but they could probably be converted.

I was stationed at Ocean Cape from 1976-77. What a great place for your first unit. Could not beat the fishing on the Situk River or the beach combing for glass balls. Went back in the early 80s while stationed at Air Sta Sitka but the station was long gone. Lots of great memories of the unit and the people I served with.

It will be a sad day when the Loran Station in Tok Looses its Towers. My wife and I have some very special friends who served there and became more family then friends. Thank you Senior Master Chief Joe Row for your service and your friendship.

I served on LORSTA Miyako Jima 1967-1968. I was lucky enough to be there at that time because the crew was the greatest bunch of Coasties I have had the privilege to meet. All the crew I served with were great but that crew was fantastic.

Could someone tell me the name of the Chief who was at Tan My 69-70? Walter Parker was the CO at that time. How could I submit a photo or two and to whom do I submit it to? Also there was a Coast Guard troop from Tenn. there during that time frame. Do not recall his name. Would like to contact him. I reside in Smyrna Tn. Thanks

Joe, I know Sattahip buildings are still there. It is the Lampang station in Northern Thailand that I was talking about. Hey Bill how about adding a forum to the site?

Sattihip appears to be a little north west of the cooridinates given on the units page. It appears the buildings are intact. This is my best guess ... since Ive never been there.

Scotty, look at Google earth and see if can find the Lampang station buildings. Sattahip Station is still all in tact. I hadThad Allen look, but he was unsure. I have been working with him and the CG on the Vietnam Service Ribbon for all that served in Thailand, and the awards manual is in the process of being updated. I was original crew at Sattahip BTW. Check my pictures of that site. Junk4sbhome@gmail.com Chris Dailey former ET1 1965-1969
